Members of this band have shared the stage with the likes of the Counting Crows, Foreigner, Loverboy, Cheap Trick, Dokken, Great White, Everclear, Vertical Horizon, Live, Sugar Ray and the Dave Matthews Band.
While the five formerly touring musicians may no longer hit the road, they still have plenty of star power entertaining huge crowds across South Florida. Performing modern & alternative rock covers and occasionally reaching all the way back to a few 60s and 70s tunes, Datura Street Band's breadth is impressive. Front man Jeff Clemens, keyboardist Chuck Wildes, guitarist Shelby Rael, bassist Keith Howard and drummer Craig Stone provide authenticity and credibility, each having played in front of throngs of thousands with various bands throughout the years. "Crowds seem to respond to what we do," says Clemens. "I think we play an eclectic mix of rock, always have a surprise up our sleeve, and people are shocked at the talent level of the band." Wildes exclaims: "Nothing is more fun than seeing the energetic reaction of our fans and crowd during a performance. It's worth the long nights at practice and drudgery of set up and break down at our favorite venues!"
Their set list varies from the Rolling Stones, to Prince, to U2, to Billy Idol to Maroon 5, with an occasional special emphasis on great classics from the 1980s keeping the dance floor packed. While they can be found at the occasional big show, members these days prefer the more laid back confines of local venues like Boston's On the Beach, the Hurricane, The Dubliner, Sláinte and CityPlace's "Friday Night Rocks" to name just a few. Their name "Datura Street Band" pays tribute to its initial formation on a famous street in downtown West Palm Beach where they were originally born as "The DiX" and although many members come and gone over time, the current lineup has been the best yet with seasoned and talented musicians.
